Dance, Optimisation and Communicating Vulnerabilities

15min lecture performance
The Lure of the Image 2023
V&A South Kensington
London, UK

Part of slideshow accompanying lecture performance

A lecture performance created in response to the V&A thematic event The Lure of the Image.

"In today's digital climate, how and why are we seduced by images? What draws us in - emotionally and logically - and how do images shape our social, cultural and political views of the world?"

This performance acts as an invitation to "delve deep into how we are enticed by images, through screens that attempt to capture our gaze and harvest our attention. Explore how platforms like TikTok, YouTube or Instagram use people - or 'screen bodies' - to captivate viewers through choreographies, ASMR, or gestures and poses, which ultimately both resist and conform to our social and cultural standards."
